Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to improve the shape and function of the nose. It enhances facial harmony by reshaping the nose aesthetically while also correcting structural issues that may cause breathing difficulties. By making precise, millimetric adjustments to the bone, cartilage, and soft tissues, the procedure aims to achieve results that are both natural and functional.
Who is it suitable for?
Individuals who are aesthetically dissatisfied with the appearance of their nose
Those experiencing breathing difficulties
People with nasal deviation, a dorsal hump, excessive width, or asymmetry
Individuals whose nasal shape has changed due to trauma
Those seeking a natural-looking nose that harmonizes with their facial features
Individuals who have completed physical development (typically over 16–17 for females and 17–18 for males)

Most Frequently Asked Questions
How is the surgery performed?
Rhinoplasty can be performed using either the open or closed technique.
Through small incisions made inside the nose and/or at the base of the nose, the surgeon reshapes the bone and cartilage structures. If necessary, a septoplasty is also performed to correct breathing problems.
Every step of the procedure is planned to achieve a natural result that harmonizes with the patient’s facial features.
How long does the surgery take?
A rhinoplasty procedure typically takes 2–3 hours. However, the duration may be slightly shorter or longer depending on the complexity and extent of the surgical corrections needed.
Is the surgery painful?
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, so no pain is felt during surgery. On the first postoperative day, mild pressure or fullness may occur, but most patients can easily manage this with simple pain relievers. Severe pain is not typically expected.
How long do the results last?
Rhinoplasty results are permanent. Since the nasal structure is reshaped, the improved form is maintained for many years. However, minimal age-related changes may occur over time; this is a natural process that happens in all noses.
Will I have visible scars?
In open rhinoplasty, a very fine incision scar is present on the columella (the area beneath the nose). This scar fades over time and becomes almost unnoticeable in most patients.
In closed rhinoplasty, there is no external scar, as all incisions are made inside the nose.
What are the risks?
Swelling and bruising
Infection
Bleeding
Temporary increase in breathing difficulties
Asymmetry or the need for revision surgery
Delayed healing or skin sensitivity

How long should I stay in Istanbul for recovery?
For patients traveling from abroad, staying in Istanbul for 7–10 days is usually sufficient. During this period, follow-up examinations are completed, nasal splints or tampons are removed, and early-stage healing is closely monitored.
Is it safe to travel by plane after the procedure?
It is generally safe to travel by plane 5–7 days after rhinoplasty. However, your surgeon’s evaluation is essential, as healing speed varies from person to person.
A clear travel approval is given after your follow-up appointment.
What will my post-operative care be like when I return home?
In the early post-operative period, all follow-ups are performed directly by our surgeon, and patients are allowed to return to their home country once they no longer require dressings. In the following weeks, additional check-ups are conducted via video calls. Before leaving Istanbul, patients receive detailed instructions, and all necessary care videos are shared with them.
Will language be a barrier?
No. Our clinic provides English-speaking coordinators and interpreter services for international patients, ensuring smooth communication at every stage.
