Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck surgery is a procedure performed to remove loose skin and excess fat in the abdominal area, tighten the abdominal muscles, and create a flatter and more aesthetically pleasing appearance. It is one of the most effective methods for correcting sagging in the abdominal region caused by pregnancy, rapid weight fluctuations, or aging.
Who is it suitable for?
- Individuals with significant sagging, looseness, or stretch marks in the abdominal area
- Women with abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti) after pregnancy
- People who have lost weight and maintained a stable weight but are bothered by excess abdominal skin
- Those whose abdominal appearance does not improve with diet and exercise
- Individuals in good overall health who have reduced or stopped smoking
- Patients who can comply with the post-operative recovery process

Most Frequently Asked Questions
How is the surgery performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made along the bikini line in the lower abdomen. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the loosened abdominal muscles are tightened. The belly button is reshaped and repositioned appropriately. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed with aesthetic sutures, and bandages are applied.
How long does the surgery take?
A tummy tuck surgery typically lasts between 2 and 4 hours. The duration may vary depending on the scope of the procedure (mini, full, or extended tummy tuck).
Is the surgery painful?
A feeling of tightness and pain in the area may occur after the surgery, but this is temporary. In the first few days, it is comfortably managed with the prescribed pain medications. The majority of patients feel significantly better within a few days.
How long do the results last?
The results of a tummy tuck are long-lasting. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and keeping an ideal weight help preserve the outcome. However, factors such as pregnancy or significant weight gain or loss may affect the abdominal area again.
Will I have visible scars?
A thin scar remains along the bikini line; however, it fades significantly over time. The scar can be easily concealed under underwear or swimwear. With regular dressing and proper care, the appearance of the scar is minimized.
What are the risks?
Infection
Bleeding
Seroma (fluid accumulation)
Delayed healing
Noticeable scarring
Rarely, asymmetry or changes in sensation
When performed by experienced surgeons, the risk rate is low.

How long should I stay in Istanbul for recovery?
For patients coming from abroad, it is recommended to stay in Istanbul for at least 7–10 days. During this period, dressings, follow-up examinations, and early-stage monitoring are completed.
Is it safe to travel by plane after the procedure?
In general, it is safe to fly 7–10 days after the surgery, once you have been evaluated by your doctor. To avoid affecting blood circulation during the flight, it is recommended to drink plenty of water and move your legs at short intervals.
What will my post-operative care be like when I return home?
In the early post-operative period, all follow-ups are performed directly by our surgeon, and patients are allowed to return to their home country once they no longer require dressings. In the following weeks, additional check-ups are conducted via video calls. Before leaving Istanbul, patients receive detailed instructions, and all necessary care videos are shared with them.
