Lip Lift
Lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip, giving the lips a fuller, more defined, and more youthful appearance. By elevating the upper lip, it enhances the aesthetics of the smile and brings better balance to overall facial proportions. It is also frequently preferred to reduce the philtrum length that tends to increase with aging.
Who is it suitable for?
Those with a long upper lip–nose (philtrum) distance
Individuals whose upper lip appears thin
Patients whose teeth do not show when they smile
Those seeking a younger, more dynamic mouth and smile aesthetics
Individuals who are not satisfied with fillers or who want a more permanent solution
People with no medical contraindications who are suitable for general or local anesthesia

Most Frequently Asked Questions
How is the surgery performed?
The lip lift procedure is performed through a fine, hidden incision made along the natural crease just beneath the nose. Excess skin is removed, the upper lip is gently elevated, and the area is closed with aesthetic sutures. Since the base of the nose naturally creates a shadow line, the incision remains virtually invisible from the outside. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or with sedation.
How long does the surgery take?
A lip lift procedure typically takes around 45–60 minutes to complete.
Is the surgery painful?
It is generally considered a minor surgical procedure. Post-operative discomfort is minimal and can be easily managed with prescribed mild pain medications. Most patients experience a comfortable recovery period.
How long do the results last?
A lip lift is a permanent procedure. Although natural age-related changes may influence the area over time, the lip height achieved through surgery remains permanently maintained.
Will I have visible scars?
Since the incision is hidden at the base of the nose, the scar is not noticeable from the outside. A faint pink line may be visible during the first few months, but it gradually fades and becomes barely perceptible over time. Proper wound care and adherence to your surgeon’s recommendations significantly improve the final scar quality.
What are the risks?
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Temporary asymmetry
- Unwanted scar formation
- Temporary numbness
- A short-term feeling of tightness during natural lip movements
- When performed by an experienced surgeon, these risks are minimal.

How long should I stay in Istanbul for recovery?
For patients traveling from abroad, it is recommended to stay in Istanbul for at least 5–7 days. This period is ideal for the first check-up, removal of stitches, and monitoring the early stages of healing.
Is it safe to travel by plane after the procedure?
Air travel is generally safe after 3–4 days. To minimize the effects of swelling and cabin pressure, it is important to follow your surgeon’s recommended medications and post-care instructions.
What will my post-operative care be like when I return home?
In the early post-operative period, all follow-ups are performed directly by our surgeon, and patients are allowed to return to their home country once they no longer require dressings. In the following weeks, additional check-ups are conducted via video calls. Before leaving Istanbul, patients receive detailed instructions, and all necessary care videos are shared with them.
Will language be a barrier?
No. Our clinic provides English-speaking coordinators and interpreter services for international patients, ensuring smooth communication at every stage.
