How is the surgery performed?
The procedure is performed through a small incision made inside the mouth, where a controlled amount of the Bichat fat pads is removed. No external incision or visible scar is created on the face. After the procedure, the incisions are closed with self-dissolving sutures.
How long does the surgery take?
A buccal fat removal procedure typically takes 30–45 minutes.
Is the surgery painful?
Since it is performed under local anesthesia, no pain is felt during the procedure. Afterwards, mild pain or a slight burning sensation may occur, but these are easily managed with the prescribed pain medications.
How long do the results last?
The results are permanent. The removed fat cells do not regenerate. However, weight gain can affect the overall appearance of the face, so maintaining a stable, healthy weight is important.
Will I have visible scars?
No. Since the entire procedure is performed from inside the mouth, no visible external scar is left.

Once your first follow-up examination is completed, you can safely return home.
Is it safe to travel by plane after the procedure?
Yes. It is generally safe to travel by plane 24 hours after the procedure.
However, your individual situation will be confirmed during your postoperative check-up.
What will my post-operative care be like when I return home?
In the early post-operative period, all follow-ups are performed directly by our surgeon, and patients are allowed to return to their home country once they no longer require dressings. In the following weeks, additional check-ups are conducted via video calls. Before leaving Istanbul, patients receive detailed instructions, and all necessary care videos are shared with them.
